Welcome to the Mount Eliza Lions Club websiteMount Eliza is an outer suburb 48 kms south-east of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia; just 7 kms from the City of Frankston. The town centre is known as Mount Eliza Village and is the main shopping area for the suburb. It is situated at the intersection of Canadian Bay Road and Mount Eliza Way. The village is a bustling centre of activity and is well served by many businesses.
The Club meets at the Mornington Country Golf Club, in Tallis Drive, Mornington. The Mount Eliza Lions Club was established in 1969 and we currently have 30 members, made up of both men and women with the common objective of contributing to the community.
To generate funds for the provision of services to the local and wider world community, we give of our time to such diverse activities as: • the promotion and running of major fund-raising events • provision of labour and services for community events put on by the Mornington Peninsula Shire and commercial organisations i.e. Mornington Food and Wine Festival, Australia Day etc • regular local sausage sizzle stalls • sales of Christmas cakes, social events, etc. All funds raised are through the voluntary efforts of the Lions Club members, and over the past several years, these funds have been dispersed to a broad range of needy organisations and groups: What do we do with the funds we raise?All funds raised are through the voluntary efforts of the Lions Club members, and over the past several years, these funds have been dispersed to a broad range of needy organisations and groups: For Infants and Children, providing: • funds to Peninsula Health for Special Care infant facilities at Frankston Hospital plus the Simulation and Skills Training Centre at Mount Eliza • funds for the purchase of walker training equipment to provide mobility for children with extreme neurological problems For Youth, providing: • funds to Peninsula Youth Enterprises for youth projects, including a customised trailer to employ youths on community projects • funds to send ‘troubled youths’ to residential camps to develop social skills For Families, providing: • funds and food in support of the Mornington Christmas Hamper distribution to needy families • Sent underprivileged children to the Lions Licola Village during school holiday periods For the Aged and Infirm, providing: • physical assistance to help them remain ‘living-at-home’ and arranged for groups of elderly citizens to attend concerts of Orchestra Victoria • funds to an In-Patient Palliative Care Unit for audio-visual equipment for patients For the Disabled, providing: • funds for a ‘Sailability’ program for disabled people at the Mornington Yacht Club • trained ‘Hearing Dogs’ for those in the community with severe hearing difficulties • funds to the Meniere’s Support Group of Victoria We aim to meet the needs of our local communities and the world....
